Since1990s, due to the implementation of One-child policy as well as the changeof attitude toward reproduction, the population in China has grown slowly. Accordingly,the number of students enrolled in primary school is declining, especially in some well-developed cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, where such situation isparticularly significant. In development zone of Dalian, similar situation is alsoemerging. In order to make the education resources better protected, applied andoptimized, so that to meet people’s need of pursuing better quality education, small-sized classes start to be carried out in the large cities. Small-sized classes have highlyimproved the education and teaching. Therefore, the research on the relationshipbetween the teachers and students in the small-sized classes is very important for theeducation in the future. This paper starts with the current status of relationship betweenteachers and students in the small-sized classes, followed by the building up a harmonyand positive teacher-student relationship. The author investigated200students and20teachers in Qing Song primary school with questionnaires and interviews, and analyzedthe current status of teach-student relationship. It is found that small-sized classes havemore advantages on education resources or teachers assignment compared with large-sized classes.However, there are also some problems on teach-student relationship in small-sized classes. For example, the teacher’s understanding on teach-student relationshipmay be different, some teachers’ lacking communication skills when interacting withthe students, no enough feedback on emotions to students, etc. It is recommended thateducation authorities and schools should pay more attention on the existing problems ofteach-student relationship in small-sized classes, carry out more training on emotionaleducation, continuously improve the communication skills for the teachers, and makethe students evaluation system more perfect.
