School membership is an important indicator that measures the quality of teachers’ working life. By Studying and training teachers’school membership, not only can it be helpful to improve the stability of teachers, but also be helpful to improve education quality. In this study, methods of literature, questionnaire, interview and comparison are used to analyze the status and influence factors of school membership of teachers in private primary&secondary school of M city, and strategies of improving teachers’ school membership are proposed on the basis.Firstly, the scale—Psychological Sense of School Membership-PSSM which was designed by Goodenow in1993is introduced in the study for reference. Based on the data collected by scientific spot investigation for three large scale private schools in M city, we concluded that:school membership of teachers in private schools is obviously worse than that of teachers in public schools. Meanwhile, school membership also varies with gender, residence, age, post, professional title, education background of teachers and age classes they are teaching.Secondly, we analyzed the reasons which resulted the lack of school membership of teachers in private primary&secondary schools. There are three main aspects:the first is from society:the old traditional concept, the deficiency social security system, the nonstandard recruitment system, the imperfect legal system and regulatory agency for private education and insufficient supervision; the second is from school:the pursuit of economic interests encroaches on the rights of teachers, the unreasonable wage system, the insufficient training, the unscientific evaluation system, the heavy workload, and undemocratic management; the third is from teacher themselves:a kind of doing work mentality, worried about personal gains and losses, and anxious for unfair treatment. Finally, solutions are proposed based on the above analysis. The social status of teachers in private primary&secondary schools should be promoted with the propaganda of public, regulate the recruitment and social security system, and improve the legal system of private education, set up intermediary organizations to enhance supervision. For schools, they should change idea to make them special, improve democratic management, adjust wage system, optimize evaluation system, emphasize teacher training, and create comfortable environment to highlight humanistic care. Teachers should adjust themselves to suit for private primary&secondary schools, like loving their homes, keep pace with school, and dialectically face the difference between public school and private primary&secondary school.
