The Research On Shanghai Urban Traffic Congestion Causes And Countermeasures

China’s major cities has been suffering from traffic congestion. Urban trafficcongestion problems have seriously affected the social progress, economic development,which led to a series of social problems such as environmental issues. Therefore, take thenecessary steps to ease urban traffic congestion has become an urgent task.As one of the representatives of China’s mega-cities, Shanghai also faces with thecontradiction between the limited supply capacity of urban traffic and the rapid growth ofthe urban traffic demand, it is the urgent need to deal with the problem of traffic congestion.This thesis is in such a background, to study and research the problem of the Shanghaiurban traffic congestion. Against the status quo of the Shanghai urban traffic congestion bythe use of literature analysis, empirical analysis and other methods to study in-depth on thecauses and countermeasures of urban traffic congestion in Shanghai. First introduced thetheory of urban traffic congestion, such as public governance theory, theory of thesustainable development of urban transport and urban traffic congestion related concepts;Second, from the road traffic profiles, the profile of the transport and travel characteristicsspecifically to introduce the status quo of urban traffic of Shanghai. And then analyze thecause of the reasons for the formation of the Shanghai urban traffic congestion problem,such as: transportation planning and management system is not perfect, intelligent trafficlevel is not high, the motor vehicle policies are less developed and lack of public transportcompetitiveness. Finally, for the actual Shanghai Urban Transport situation, on the basis ofthe successful experience from domestic and foreign cities to solve the problem of trafficcongestion, propose the Shanghai urban congestion problem countermeasures, such as:improving urban planning, unswervingly implement the bus priority strategy to speed upthe construction of intelligent systems and to improve the efficiency of rental operators. Inorder to provide useful help to improve the efficiency of urban transport system to easeurban traffic congestion.
