A Report On The Translation Of A General Introduction To National High-tech Zones In Henan Province

This is a report on the translation of some parts of A General Introduction to National High-tech Zones in Henan Province, and its purpose is to learn more about the language features of publicity materials and to discuss their translation methods, which are significant for improving the readability of their translation.The report is composed of four parts. The first part is the introduction that presents the background, significance and organization of this report. The second part sketches the theoretical basis, and introduces the major content and features of the original text as well as the translation methods to be adopted. The third part, combined with the translation of some parts of A General Introduction to National High-tech Zones in Henan Province, analyzes how domestication and foreinization are applied to the translation of publicity materials, with reference to relevant reasons, characteristics and effects from both lexical level and textual level. The analysis regards the lexical level mainly involves proper nouns, words with distinctive Chinese characteristics and meaning extension of words; and the analysis regards the textual level is mainly about discourse cohesion and translator’s subjectivity. The fourth part is the conclusion that summarizes the enlightenment, lessons and problems to be solved.
