Using CACT (Computer Assisted Chinese Teaching) methods is good for improving teaching quality in primary Chinese as a foreign language courses. CACT can help Chinese teachers and foreign students to overcome the difficulties of Chinese pronunciation and character writing. Combining the research results of experts and scholars, the experience of computer assisted language teaching abroad and my own experience of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this paper illustrates not only the CACT application in Chinese phonetic teaching and character writing, but also my own views of CACT application shortage.This paper contains the contents as following:1. Theoretical and practical research results of CACT from experts and scholars.2. The origin, function, advantages and development prospect of CACT.3. The application of CACT in Chinese phonetic teaching and character writing in primary Chinese as a foreign language courses.4. The thinking of CACT application in primary Chinese as a foreign language courses, including the aspects of technical requirements, the distance education, the development of network curriculum and teaching skills of Chinese teachers.
