Corpus-Based Study On The Distribution Of Meaning Items In Modern Chinese Weather Property Semantic Field Representatives Characters

Weather property semantic field is the fundamental semantic field of modern Chinese. On the basis of the Modern Chinese corpus of Center for Chinese Linguistics Peking University, we take "Liang","Nuan","Zao","Qing","Re", the five representative characters of modern Chinese weather property semantic field, as the object of our study, to re-describe the meaning items of the distribution of the representative weather characters. And on this basis, we try to give some suggestions to the definitions of the five representative characters and relevant word-collection in Modern Chinese Dictionary (the sixth edition).This article is divided into three parts. The first part is Introduction, giving a retrospect and prospect of the the theories of semantic field and practices of division of semantic field about dictionary compiling, especially the division of adjective semantic field. On this basis, we summarize two principles of the division of adjective semantic field:following the objective principle; following the principle of human cognitive rules——from the concrete to the abstract. Then, we preliminary divided the core single-tone adjective words of Modern Chinese Dictionary into different semantic fields. The second part is from the first chapter to the fifth chapter. On the basis of analyzing abundance of linguistic data, we re-describe the meaning items of the distribution of the five representative weather characters. And then, with the guidance of Linguistics, especially lexicography, we give some suggestions to the definitions of the five representative characters and relevant word-collection in Modern Chinese Dictionary.
