This is a report in which both Chinese-English and English-Chinese consecutive interpreting are included. The author’s experience of passing the CATTI translation test greatly helps to analyze the relevant interpreting strategies used in the task. This thesis describes one CI task conducted by the author in the Coffee Exhibition and Coffee Tasting of the9th China-ASEAN Expo and some relevant interpreting strategies used in the task are analyzed. The findings of the study indicate:1. Pre-interpreting which is the prerequisite of calm interpreting is crucial to the whole task.2. Two-way communication is a sharp sword to eliminate doubts and misunderstandings. The interpreter should actively communicate with the host to guarantee the success of the whole task.3. On-the-spot preparation tactics of "scanning fast, grasping the main idea, looking up the technical terms and making anticipation" largely contribute to a successful task.4. Good mental quality is a must for an interpreter. As related studies on interpreting practical performance are still inadequate so far, the thesis can be seen as a trial study, simply in the hope of providing some reference which will facilitate interpreting teaching and learning as well as interpreting practice.
