With the wide spread of economic globalization and the deepening of reform andopening up, international exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent. Thus,interpreters, as a language bridge in international activities, are becoming moreimportant. As a MTI major student, the author charged as an interpreter in theintercollegiate exchange conference held by HNU and other overseas universities. Thispractice, employing interpretation materials in the conference of the Innovation andLeader Ability of University Students with Stellenbosch University as the blueprint,gave analysis and findings on the conference consecutive interpretation. This practicereport can be divided into six parts: introduction, description of the task, task process,interpretation analysis, post-summary and conclusion. They are composed to analyzethe interpretations.In the first part, the author described the preparation works done beforeinterpretation, which include material collection and text translation. Then, through thecomparison between before and after interpretation, the author gave specific analysistoward some problems, such as interpretation mistakes, listening obstacles,interpretation strategies and accent problems. Then the author focused on thoseproblems appeared and integrated with some related interpreting methods andstrategies, aiming to promote the quality of interpretation. Meanwhile, for theparticular case, accent problem, the author tried to summarize Indian accent’scharacteristics. Thus, the summary will be useful to the future’s interpretation work.Based on the mentioned obstacles and their corresponding cases, the authorpromoted some possible solutions for reference. With regard to the listening obstacles,interpreters should emphasize the sense group and key words. With regard to theinterpreting techniques, interpreters should enhance the training of technique adoption.With regard to the unforeseen obstacles, interpreters should improve their straincapacity. With regard to the accent obstacles, interpreters should keep a proper attitudeand summarize its characteristics.
