This is a translation project report on Encyclopedia of Domestic Violence(Chapter3) by professor Nicky Ali Jackson, Purdue University. She devoted herselfinto the study of domestic violence and bullies. Her book, Encyclopedia of DomesticViolence, gets enormous response from US academic world and it explains the coreproblems of domestic violence with concrete data and related psychological andsociological theories. With an overall understanding of the book,this reportintroduces and analyses the difficulties of text typology translation and translation ofcomplex sentences under the guidance of Skopos Theory.And literal translation andfree translation were used to break down the text typology translation and translationof complex sentences. This report consists of four parts: Part One is the translationproject description, including project background, objectives and significance. PartTwo is the introduction of the background of the source text, including the maincontent of the source text, the source text analysis and the translation standard andstrategy adopted in the project. Part Three is the implementation of translationtheories, and how to solve the main difficulties encountered during the translationalprocess, being technical terms and conversion of words and its structures. The lastpart summarized the lessons learned from the translation of this project as well asproblems remained to be solved.
