China is a unified, multiethnic country whose ethnic distribution, history and composition determine its national relation has a broad and profound impact on its society. The national relation is related to the stability of Chinese border areas, the unification of the country and the unity of the nations. A good national relation is an important guarantee for China’s socialist modernization and construction of socialism harmonious society. But the factors that affect the national relation are complex and diverse, and among these factors, the ethnic image is one of the important. This paper is based on San Daokan village and Huashan Industrial Park, Zhanyi County, Yunnan, and mainly from the perspective of the ethnic image, explore the relationship among different ethnic groups under the influence of the ethnic image.This paper consists of six parts:The introduction part introduces the significance of this paper, and related research results, and research methods, and the difficulties of this research. The first chapter is mainly about the meaning of some terms in this paper such as ethnic groups, image, ethnic image and national relation. The second chapter mainly introduces the history and the current situation of the San Daokan village and Huashan Industrial Park. The third chapter mainly discusses the factors that affect the image of ethnic groups---the objective factors of the object, the image of the subject, people’s self-awareness and mass media etc. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the positive and negative effects of the ethnic image on national relation. The fifth chapter mainly discusses the efforts that the individual, relevant governmental departments and social groups could do in the process of modeling a good ethnic image.
