Practical curriculum of teacher education is the characteristics of the teachereducation curriculum.It is an important part of teacher education curriculum system.It plays an irreplaceable role in promoting professional development of students innormal university. However, the practical curriculum of teacher education which isacknowledged as "soft spot" has been ignored for a long time. With the improvementof teachers’ specialization level, a wave of "return to practice" appears in theinternational teacher education. So the reform of teacher education practicalcurriculum system has become an urgent task of the teacher education reform.First of all, based on the development trend of the international education practicalcurriculum, the background of the basic education reform and international teachereducation in China, this study reveals the great value of teacher education practicalcurriculum system to the professional development of students majoring in geographyeducation from the perspectives of reflective teaching theory, teacher knowledgetheory and teacher professional development theory,Then, through the analysis of geography teacher education training program,educational probation, microteaching plan, teaching internship program, as well asother document literatures of geography teachers in normal universities, along withinterviews and questionnaires of current situation of geography teacher educationpractical curriculum in some school, this study summaries the shortage of geographyteacher education practical curriculum system in our country.Finally, according to the shortcomings of geography teacher education practicalcurriculum in our country, this study, under the guide of “The Teacher EducationCurriculum Standard (trial)”reconstructs the curriculum goal, curriculum content,curriculum implementation, curriculum evaluation and curriculum securitysystem.Geography teacher education practical curriculum should aim to fostereducators and managers with rich knowledge, great teaching ability and managementability, lifelong learning and sustainable development ability, who love geographyeducation. In the curriculum content, it involves not only teaching practice, classmanagement practice, school administrative management practice, teaching andresearching practice but also formal school practice and informal education institution outside school practice curriculum content system. Education practical contentproceeds by13stages and shares the features from easy to difficult. Meanwhile, itcombines theory with practice and practice with reflection. In the curriculumimplementation, it strengthens practical curriculum planning and education practiceguidance, and optimizes the practice models and approaches. In the curriculumevaluation, it tries to broaden the evaluation target, attach importance to formativeassessment, and promote the diversification of evaluation subject. At the same time, itconstructs curriculum security from regulations, funds, practice facilities, practicebase, and teachers.
