Health Situation Analysis And Quarantine Supervision Countermeasures Of Imported Meat In Shanghai Port

Meat is one of main food categories in China. In order to make up for the inadequacy of meat production and satisfy different classes people for different quality meat consumption demand in our country, in recent years our country need to import more than one million tons meat every year, and a strong growth momentum. However, there occur many important events which affect the safety of meat, Animal epidemic diseases such as avian influenza, influenza, and BSE(bovine spongiform encephalopathy); poisonous and harmful material residues such as clenbuterol and heavy metal; pathogenic microorganism such as Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus. For holding the unsafe meat in the bay, and safeguard domestic people eating the secure imported meat, Chinese government pay high attention to it and successively draw up and revise a series of Laws and regulations, and hygienic standard, which enhance the threshold of the foreign meat entry and the ability of safeguarding imported meat sanitary safety. But we see objectively that the quarantine supervision system of the imported meat in our country still exists large distances compared to Euramerican developed countries, such as laws and regulations, food safety standard, and recall system.Shanghai port is one of the important ports of entry meat, import quantity of meat is close to 500000 tons in 2012, which occupy A third of the total import volume. Imported meat in Shanghai port can reflect the overall condition of our country imported meat. In this study, we collected, tidied, and compiled the inspection and quarantine data of Shanghai port from 2006 to 2012, and analyzed integrally the varieties, trading country and major health problems of imported meat in our country. In addition, laws, regulations, and hygienic standard in our country were combeded and compared to Euramerican developed countries, and then we propose some countermeasure to perfect the quarantine supervision and management system of imported meat in China.
