This article is a translation report whose original text is excerpted from the seventhchapter of Introduction to the Law of the United States compiled by David S Clarkand Tugrul Ansay. The seventh chapter, Criminal Law, is written by ProfessorEdward·M·Wise. This book is used as the main textbook and relevant teachingreference book for most of the American law schools and its writers are experiencedteachers of law, among whom some are famous professors or academic authorities.Applied in the classroom teaching for several years, this book is firmly recognized bythe students of law schools. Therefore, the essence of common law can be revealedfrom this book.The author of this report, first of all, discusses some translation theories andprinciples and analyzes the difficulties in the process of the translation. Secondly, therelevant translation methods are proposed in the practice of the translation. At last, theauthor gives the summary of this report and point out some problems to be resolved. |
