Work and family are equally important to individuals. However, nowadays, more and more people struggle to achieve work family balance due to economic growth, the pace of life and the change of attitudes. Many employees have to look for a compromise between work and family commitments. Besides, most of bank employees are shift-workers. Usually, nonstandard work schedules are associated with more trouble in family life and interpersonal relationships, as well as life quality. Nevertheless, the impact of nonstandard work schedules on bank employees has hardly been discussed. Therefore the present research aimed to investigate the relationship among work schedules, work family conflict and job burnout. The tools include work family conflict scale, whose Chinese version was revised by Zhang zhunong, constructed by Carlson et al.; and MBI-GS, whose Chinese version was revised by Li Chaoping&Shi Kan, constructed by Maslach et al.. The present research only investigated two dimensions of work family conflict:time-based work-to-family conflict and time-based family-to-work conflict.311bank employees from a city were chosen to be subjects. Their schedules were divided into three groups: N-1pattern, N-N pattern and standard pattern. This research reveals that:(1) In terms of time-based work family conflict, the overall level of the bank employees’time-based work family conflict is not that high. But time-based work-to-family conflict is much higher than time-based family-to-work conflict. In addition, bank employees working under different schedules get different scores on time-based work family conflict. N-l pattern employees scored highest.(2) In terms of job burnout, emotional exhaustion among bank employees is relatively more serious. Cynicism and low self-efficacy are not obvious. In addition, employees working under different schedules get different scores on burnout. As to emotional exhaustion and cynicism, N-1pattern employees scored highest, N-N employees scored lowest.(3) In terms of the relationship between time-based work family conflict and job burnout, both time-based work-to-family conflict and family-to-work conflict of the bank employees can positively predict job burnout.(4) The relationship between time-based work-to-family conflict and self-efficacy is mediated by work schedules. For N-1pattern employees, the higher their time-based work-to-family conflict, the higher their self-efficacy. The recommendations originating from the result of this research are as follows:(1) In institution level, more reasonable work schedules are beneficial.(2) In organization level, family-friendly culture should be built up.(3) In individual level, absorbing positive energy is necessary.
