"Dou" is an adverb with very rich semantic meaning and pragmatics and high frequency of utilization in modern Chinese. Scholars had done a lot of researches on this word, but the research on it in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language is not too much. In the process of learning Chinese and communicating with the Vietnamese students, the author found that the semantic meaning and pragmatics of the adverb" dou" is complex, and there are certain Vietnamese words corresponding to the Chinese adverb "dou". However, the difference of the language and cultural background make it liable to produce errors for Vietnamese students to learn Chinese adverb "dou" (four types of errors are involved), especially the omissions and errors of scope adverb "dou" are mixed. This shows that the adverb "dou" is a difficult point for Vietnamese students to learn Chinese. Therefore, this paper aims to carry on the contrast analysis on the Chinese adverb "dou" and Vietnamese corresponding words, as well as questionnaire survey to find the cause of and the rule of errors when the Vietnamese students using the adverb "dou". Then it puts forward the author’s own points of view on international students learning Chinese and the country specific textbooks and classroom teaching, hoping to provide inspiration and help for Vietnamese students in learning the adverb "dou" and teaching Chinese as a foreign language to inspire and help.
