A Translation Report On Translation, History, Culture(Excerpts)

This thesis is an English-Chinese translation project report. It is based on the Chapter Four to Six of Translation,History,Culture edited by André Lefevere, who is a well-known translation theorist, and published by Routledge in 1992. The text type of this book belongs to social science domain. This book collects many translators‘ creative thinking or ideas in the past one thousand year. The book plays an indispensable role in exploring translation rules and principles from the perspective of culture. Chapter four is about Universe of Discourse, Chapter five is about Translation, the development of language, and education, Chapter six is The technique of translating. This translation project report is divided into four parts. Part one is the editor introduction, book information, the translation task and the translation purpose. Part two is process description including the preparation, translating and proofreading. Part three is the case study about main difficulties and corresponding solutions from the perspective of words and sentences. Each translation strategy is demonstrated by certain samples, analyzed by some practical solutions chosen and concluded by multiple theories. Part four is the summary and conclusion of the translation process.
