With the development of globalization, language has played a more and more significant role in inter-cultural communication. It is the bridge that links countries in the world and the medium of cross-cultural exchange. In terms of literature,a large number of foreign works have swarmed into Chinese market, however,Chinese market still lacks books that are close to people's lives, especially in today's stressful society. In order to help people to deal with practical problems, this translation work will fully show its value and people's attitudes towards life under different cultures.Own It: Make Your Anxiety Work for You,written by Caroline Foran,is a memoir, which tells about how to deal with anxiety by narrating Caroline Foran's own experience. The clear feature of memoir is that there is author's own information and experience in the book, therefore, the translation must be proceeded with full understandings of the author.Besides, this book features in simple words but many long sentences which have complex structures and different meanings from Chinese, and it brought many difficulties to the translator. In view of this feature, this report focuses on these long and complex sentences to analyze language characteristics. In the process of translation,in order to keep its completeness and cohesion, the translator chose the theory of “dynamic equivalence”,that is,Nida's functional equivalence theory as the translation theory from the lexical level, syntactic level and textual level to research and analyze source text.At the same time, the adoption of addition and omission, division and combination and other related translation methods were used to analyze cases. This report selects parts of the contents in the book to translate and finished under the help of translator's tutor and related reference books. After the completion of the translation, the translator has improved her translation level. At the same time,on the basis of Nida's functional equivalence theory,Own It: Make Your Anxiety Work for You is hoped to devote to enriching the translation of domestic works, promoting cultural exchanges, and providing references for other translators.
