China and Japan are immediate neighbors in east Asia which shares a friendship history of more than 2000 years. Communication is critical in contact between two countries. So, translation can be compared as bridge in communication between countries. Japanese words are characteristic of a plentiful change of suffix and has amount of particle and auxiliaries. Hence, Japanese usually gives long sentences. Therefore, translator must grasp the professional skill of translating long sentences. Today, there is a lot of people who study the translation skill. Nevertheless, the people are mostly inclined to the whole text in masterpiece and literature as the subject. Long sentence is the key and difficulty in translation. After all, the research in the essay is involved by analysis on types of long-sentence and conclusion about the appropriate skill. First, the study method illustrates the causes of long-sentence and studies the characters of long sentence in sample translation. Then, it is subjected to the translation method and all the points that should be paid attention to. Finally, it concludes the method of long-sentence translation.The essay gives a conclusion of Japanese characteristics of long-sentence and clarifies the position of its constituent parts in both Japanese and Chinese. Additionally, it analyzes and concludes the five characteristics of long-sentence and seven main types. After that, it gives an example for each type and analyzes the translation method for each type. In the end, translation methods are concluded by taking examples which can quickly help us find the appropriate method in translation. Moreover, skills in translation of common commercial letters are also summed up.
