Since the reform and opening-up period, a number of Japanese enterprises and joint ventures have sprung up in mainland China. Economic cooperation between China and Japan has been wide and deeply thorough. A contract is an agreement between both parties, which is about the establishment, change, or civil-relation suspension of an agreement. Therefore, Chinese-Japanese(Japanese-Chinese) contract translation becomes quite important.At present stage, there’re numbers of Chinese translations about Japanese contracts, few of which are combined with specific contract contents for research, though conducted according to translation theories. On the basis of cases in translation practice, the author applied theories to investigate the translation strategies and methods of contract.The translated text “Purchase Contract for Structural Components of Automobile Brake” has accurate, concise, standardized language and accurate expression, which reflect its seriousness and legal effect. What should be focused on is the strong written form, professional vocabulary and fixed sentencesIn the translating process, the author consulted references such as Contract law of the People’s Republic of China(Chinese-Japanese version) for comparative study of the author’s translation and that corrected by the tutor to use the theories to analyze and solve the problems in the translating process.With the help of the teachers and classmates, the author finished the translation task successfully applying the translation methods and skills. It is expected that general translation methods and skills can be concluded through this article to provide reference and guidance for the translation work afterwards. Also, the author realized that shortcomings still exist in translating quality and will focus on its study in the future translation practice. Besides, the author found some self-shortcomings such as the translating basic skills to improve and lack of language standardization, which should be solved afterwards.
