| Novel translation is a bridge, connecting cultures from home and abroad, which provides a relaxing way for the domestic readers to appreciate the details of the novel and get the foreign knowledge by reading the translated version as well. The American novel Twilight has ranked top in New York Times Bestselling since published in 2005.Followed by this novel, the movie version was also a hit around the world.This report analyzes the translated text from four aspects: cultural words,main characteristics language style, slang and long sentences, then sum up specific translation methods in the context. On the cultural words translation, the author mainly uses amplification and footnote. After the introduction of the cultural words, the reader would fully understand the meaning of the story. For the translation of main characteristics language style, the consistency of style are at the first consideration, and on the processing of Chinese characters, the author tries to meet the unity of the original and the translated language style so as to achieve the consistency of language style in Nida’s functional equivalence. Conversion is mainly used during slang translation, based on its informality and variability.Therefore, slang can be translated into a more familiar language to Chinese readers. At last, the translation of long sentences mainly analyzes the characteristics of the long sentences, then through split orcombination, the long sentences would be translated into fluent and accurate Chinese. |
