For Chinese learners, it is very important to learn oral Chinese at the primary stage. Nevertheless, there are some problems exited at this stage in oral Chinese teaching classes for foreigners, such as single teaching forms, mechanical drilling and so on. Task-based teaching approach is a new communicative teaching method which emphasizes that students should learn through doing. If this method is applied to the teaching of Chinese as foreign language, it will contribute to improving class efficiency and training students’ oral communication skills.The task-based teaching method is applied to the text Do you like Chinese food or western food in elementary spoken stage. Based on the unique teaching environment of task-based teaching method, the task “dine together” is designed on the principles of authenticity, practicality, interactive, meaning priority and learners-centered. Simulating the real authentic situation, this task aims to let the learners master the skills of asking and expressing thoughts and ideas in the real communicative situation spontaneously with the process of finishing the task. In this way, the Chinese learners are learning Chinese while they are achieving their tasks. The tasks which are closely related to the real life can transform the learners from passive accepting to active learning, showing the subjective imaginative of the learners at the mightiest. Meanwhile, the learners can actively go into tasks in the class, being the leading learners in the class by the cooperation and team work among the learners. In this way, they can learn the oral Chinese from a real situation and environment, and then improve their ability of expressing.
