The Eco-Critique And Significance Of Marx And Engels To The Urban Disease

With the globalization of ecological crisis, the growing recognition of the importance of ecological and environmental protection,theorists began to focus on the field of ecology, and hopes to tap relevant classical texts, find the human way to get rid of the ecological crisis.On the basis of substantial theoretical exploration and practice survey, Marx and Engels has completed a great theory of social criticism of capitalism. The western scholars have made an early study on ecological thought of Marx and Engels, while the academic community in China has not carried out the related systematic and comprehensive research. Particularly, the analysis on the dimension of ecology about Marx and Engels’ critique on urban disease of capitalist society is still blank.This is the characteristic of this paper which is different from the relevant research papers.The paper is based on the theories of dialectical materialism and historical materialism, as well as on the study on Marx and Engels’ ecological thoughts conducted by theorists at home and abroad. It also collects and analyses extensive literatures thoroughly, adopting various research methods, such as the literature research, the integration of logic and history, induction and deduction. The thesis is an analysis and in-depth study of the Marx and Engels’ criticism of ecological environment on the perspective urban disease of capitalist society, enriching the Marx and Engels’ social critical theory.Firstly, the thesis analyzed the historical background under which Marx and Engels’ critique was made.Secondly, after the integration of relevant historical materials and classic literatures, checked and analyzed the main points of Marx and Engels’ criticism step by step.It revealed the external reasons of the urban disease in capitalist society, and uncovered the root causes from the angles of capitalism, bourgeoisie, and the capitalist mode of production. In addition,Marx and Engels proposed reducing the dialectical relationship between man and nature, and put forward the ecological idea of communism for future society creatively. Lastly, this thesis summarized the theoretical and practical significance of Marx and Engels’ theory depending on their critique on the ecological environment of urban disease of capitalist society, providing a possible reference for ecological management modernization.
