Family function and alienation will cause the direct and indirect effectson interpersonal relationship in the process of personal growth, some studies haveshown that there were significant correlations between the interpersonal relationshipand family function,interpersonal relationship and alienation, family function andalienation, but the relationship and mechanism among the three variables needfurther inquiry. This study adopted the family assessment device (FAD), adolescentalienation scale, interpersonal relationship scale to investigate800college students ofsix universities in Sichuan Province and Chongqing. SPSS19.0was used for datadescriptive analysis, independent samples T test, correlation analysis, regressionanalysis, testing the mediation effects, the results found:(1)The overall situation of college students’ interpersonal distress was notoptimistic in the six universities studied,there were52.37%of college students haveinterpersonal relationship disturbance,difficulty in making friends and interpersonalconversation were particularly prominent, followed with the opposite sexcommunication problems, there were problems at least in the way one gets along withpeople. The girls showed more advantages than the boys in the interpersonalrelationship,students from city showed more advantages in interpersonal conversationand and contacting with the opposite sex person than rural students, the only childhad more trouble in interpersonal conversation distress than non only child, studentsfrom single parent family showed more interpersonal problems in heterosexualintercourse.(2) The family function of college students were general health in the sixuniversities studied,but there were also some problems, students in different gender,different hometown,different number of children in family have significant differences in family function. The family function that girls reported was significantly better thanboys, family function of city students was significantly better than that of the ruralstudents,the family function of only child was better than non only child.(3)The score of alienation in the total scale and each dimension of the scale werelower than the median score4in the six universities studied,which meaned the situationof alienation among college students was not serious;girls was significantly higher thanboys in environmental alienation;students from cities in the alienation of the total scoreand social alienation,interpersonal alienation was significantly lower than that ofstudents from the rural ara,rural students was significantly lower than the city studentsin environmental alienation;only child and non only child had no significant differencesin the sense of alienation.(4)Interpersonal relationship was negatively related to family function,andpositively related to alienation, alienation was negatively related to family function.(5)The family function and alienation were good predictors for interpersonalrelationship problems.(6)Alienation played the partial intermediary effect between family function andinterpersonal relationship disturbance,the partial intermediary effect ratio was26.27%.(7)The same sex male’s alienation played a partial intermediary effect betweenfamily function and interpersonal relationship disturbance,the partial intermediaryeffect was intermediary effect ratio was26.29%.
