Secondary vocational school plays an important role in the development ofnational education, which directly affects the quality of laborers. However, thereare problems in the current development status of secondary vocational school,which mainly appear in the declining number of students and their quality, thelow initiate of teacher in working, and the low professional level of class teacherwho play a key role in the development of students. As the number of students isdeclining, it is not feasible to upraise the entrance requirements, but to improveprofessional standard of teachers and class teacher in order to keep sufficientnumber of students.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter begins with anintroduction to the background, research purpose and signiifcance of class teacherprofessional development in secondary vocational school. Through the study andsummarization of relevant literature, clear concept of professionalism,specialization, teacher specialization and class teacher specialization in secondaryvocational schools is defined in detail and research ideas and methods are sort out.The second chapter, starts from the questionnaire and interview in YangpuDistrict of Shanghai. The basic qualities which specialized class teachers shouldpossess in secondary vocational school are summarized. The third chapterdemonstrates the current situation and existing problems of class teacherspecialization in secondary vocational school. In the fourth chapter, suggestionsand countermeasures are put forward for solving existing problems. It is expectedthat others may take this as a warning and this research will provide some helpfor the development of class teacher specialization in secondary vocationalschool.A lot of scholars at home and abroad research on teacher specialization.However,in the ifeld of class teacher specialization, studies are limited to classteacher specialization in primary and secondary school and theoretical researchon class teacher specialization. There are relatively fewer empirical studies onclass teacher specialization in secondary vocational school. According to theoryof primary and secondary schools’ class teacher professional development. combined with the characteristics of secondary vocational schools, aquestionnaire and an interview outline have been designed for investigatingprofessional level of class teachers in secondary vocational schools. Thequestionnaire and the interview are conducted in Shanghai secondary vocationalschools in Yangpu District so as to investigate professional morality, theoreticalknowledge and practical ability that class teachers should possess. The resultsturn out that the work initiate of class teachers is low. Besides, they lack enoughunderstanding of class teacher specialization and required quality. And enoughattention is not paid to class teacher specialization in school as well. To solveth’ese problems, first of all, we should promote teachers understanding of classteacher specialization theory and awareness of the importance of class teacherspecialization. Secondly, national policy should be established and relateddepartments should give their support. Finally, a complete training system shouldbe formed to carry out class teacher specialization under rules and regulations.
