The function of university is to realize the talents cultivation, scientific research and social service, at the same time, colleges and universities are also building a learning society and a well-off society, harmonious and innovative society force. Discipline is an important part of the university, its development is of great significance for the development of the university. The development of discipline is affected by the development of the disciplinary organization, therefore, to do some researches of the disciplinary organization are necessary.Disciplinary organization can be treated as a personnel organization, which engages in the research of knowledge organization, teaching and transferring the knowledge in the particular subjects. The mission and the purpose of personnel organization are to hand down knowledge system. In some degree, the disciplinary organization is refers to the academic community. There are four kinds of existence forms of disciplinary organization in universities, that is, the disciplinary organization is the subordinate organization of the academic organization and the administrative organization, the disciplinary organization is the unification of the academic organization and the administrative organization, the disciplinary organization belongs to different academic organizations and administrative organizations, the fourth form is that the disciplinary organization is just a purely academic organizations. The paper also chooses some examples in Central South University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the four kinds of forms. The first form is not only can achieve the sharing of resources, it also causes the problems of uneven distribution of resources easily, and then, it will cause the imbalance of two class institutions. The second form is conducive to the realization of academic autonomy, and to some extent, it will also cause the information enclosed, which is bad for the use of the academic resources. The third form, on the one hand, is propitious to the specialization of academic research, on the other hand, it disperses the discipline culture from the academic point of view of culture. As for the fourth form, namely, as a purely academic organization, it makes more difference to the education and scientific researches. Therefore, in order to promote the development and construction of the disciplinary organization, the academic organizations should reduce the administrative intervention of the disciplinary organization. Attention should be paid to the construction of the organizational culture, what’s more, an independent disciplinary organization should be formed.
