The reform of new curriculum advocates cited varied of historical resources in the middle school history teaching. Obviously, the movie and television historical materials(MTHM) have the characteristics of intuitive, vivid and visual. And they can help to improve students’ learning and analytical ability. In the modern society, we can acquire MTHM through various channels. This condition provide possible to introduce the MTHM into the middle school history teaching widely, and this issue has been got more and more scholars and the teachers’ attention and research.In recent years, although the MTHM developing rapidly, a handful of them can been used in teaching, and the situation is far too optimistic. The most targeted introduction films is not popular because they are vintage, and the picture is not clear. The historical docudrama, science and educational film, feature piece have many content related to middle school teaching. But they are not used widely. The film and television drama can reflect history to some extent, but too many mistakes, need to be careful to use. Teachers not only required to do specific analysis, but also need to follow some basic principles to use the MTHM into the history teaching. In the first place, teacher should understand the psychological characteristics of students, cognitive level, knowledge reserve and emotional needs. Secondly, teacher should choose the real and comprehensive film materials,and the language description should be, if necessary, specific and accurate. Finally, in view of the teaching emphasis and difficulties, a teacher need arrange the teaching time scientifically, and using the typical teaching materials.The MTHM mainly displays in the classroom. So teachers should learn some basic multimedia technology, and master the method of data editing and class screening technique. Teachers need choose a reasonable projection way according to the teaching content and showing time. Such as the entire screening, selective editing screening, repeated or freeze-frame screening, and contrastive screening. Moreover, teachers must master the basic classroom teaching strategies in this regard. For example, they should determine the use link combine with teaching content, arrange the screening time reasonably, design the commentary and questions. Nonetheless, historical knowledge learning may not only completed in class. Teachers also need pay attention to guide students to watch and learn the multiform MTHM after school. They can introduce and encourage students to watch some high authenticity film and television information. They can also specify some film and television works to let them watch and write the feeling. Or grouping them to discussion and communication, and so all.Some teachers have common mistakes in practical application. They are not make full use of MTHM or blind overuse for teaching; they lack of analysis and guidance for students, etc. At the same time, there are many problems in students’ learning. Such as, they take excessive attention to the plot and detail; or lack of the spirit of active exploration; and they are not willing to watch and learn the professional film and TV information, etc. This paper puts suggestions to solve these problems. Meanwhile,a teacher should add film and TV information related to some history hotspot appropriately. Because the paper of the senior high school entrance examination and the college entrance examination involve in some hot issues annually. The film and television teaching will get a good result if it have combined with other teaching methods.
