Chinese ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities have started independent colleges since the late 1990s with a new mechanism and new model. For the past decade, independent colleges have grown out of nothing and developed rapidly, becoming an increasingly significant part of the higher education in China at present and in the future. Due to the fact that the history of the independent colleges is actually short and the experience of running schools is relatively insufficient, many problems arise in the course of its development, among which the management of full-time teachers is an important one. Compared with that of the ordinary public colleges, teachers of independent colleges have their own particularity. Besides the need of dealing with the update of knowledge, the pressure of students, teachers in independent colleges are under much greater pressure both to gain approval from the society and to obtain better opportunities for career development and to guarantee the security of their career. For quite some time, independent colleges seldom inspect the relation between the development of teachers and the organization of independent colleges from the point of view of the development of career; instead, the work characteristics and management of the full-time teachers are mostly statically analyzed. Consequently, focusing on the career planning and management of the full-time teachers in independent colleges is of practical and guiding significance.Aiming at strengthening the importance and necessity of the management of the career planning of the full-time teachers in independent colleges, this paper introduces the theory of career management into the management of full-time teachers. Through literature method, questionnaire and interview, this paper analyzes the problems the full-time teachers are facing during the career development and their reasons, explores the status of career development of full-time teachers and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for their career development from the three aspects of society, school and individual. It is suggested that full-time teachers should set up a firm belief for their career, social environment and organization environment good for the career development of full-time teachers should be built, and efficient career management system should be constructed so that the individual and organization can develop together and mutual benefit and win-win outcome can be reached. It is hoped that this study can optimize the human resources management of the full-time teachers in independent colleges and is helpful to raise the level of teacher management and development, therefore further promote the sustainable development of the education in independent colleges.
