With the popularity of the development of the society, the globalization of information, education of the whole society and educators will face many pressures and challenges. The society is in progress, the national demand for talent is also increasing, our country timely put forward the "quality education", people not only have a sense of competition and cooperation, at the same time will be on the competition and cooperation are selected to adapt to the rapid development of society needs. Quality education development, under its impetus, the reform of education also changes with each passing day, of course, to the reform of physical education teaching also brings opportunities, but also challenges, sports teaching quality and efficiency has become a new topic facing the front of the sports teachers. The quality of the wave of education reform, the traditional sports teaching mode has attracted a lot of criticism, to improve the efficiency of the classroom, to develop the students’ ability is put forward again and again, "small group teaching model" came into being.This paper hopes to use the "small group" teaching model to the teaching of basketball course in middle schools, through the teaching experiment of "small groups" teaching model in middle school basketball teaching, whether in Basketball Teaching of middle school can play a certain role in promoting. I hope to provide some theoretical basis for the middle school basketball teaching.In this paper, the "small group" teaching mode in the teaching of middle school basketball as the research object, through the literature material method, interview method, questionnaire survey method, experimental method, mathematical statistics method to study the control group and the experimental group teaching experiment, the experimental results and the conclusion of the study summarized and precipitation:1, the "small group teaching model" by the teacher to the student grouping, assign tasks, let the student carry on the cooperation between small groups, and group competition learning, to meet the requirements of most of student learning, enhance students’ learning initiative and enthusiasm, improve the teaching efficiency.2, the experimental group and the control group was not significant in the teaching effect on the performance of students’ physical quality.3, the experimental group and the control group had significant difference in the teaching of basketball technical standard grades.4, the experimental group and the control group in the teaching of teaching in basketball technology actions on the performance difference is very significant.5, the experimental group and the control group in the teaching the teaching effect in the study of subjective exercise experience, the difference is also significant, "small groups" teaching mode can make students to enjoy the joy of success, happiness, eliminate worries, remove fatigue.6, in the basketball teaching in the use of "small group teaching" is superior to the traditional teaching mode.According to the above conclusion, the author puts forward some corresponding suggestions:1, "small groups" teaching mode, can promote the students’ basketball skills, and hope to use more basketball class teaching in middle school.2, "small groups" teaching mode for PE students subjective exercise experience better, I hope in the sports teaching should not only pay attention to students’ skill level, should also pay attention to students for physical education training experience.3, the "small group teaching model" is just one of many teaching pattern in many a basketball class teaching, hope can dig more teaching methods to enrich the school even rich secondary school physical education teaching.
