Teachers’career plateau is a teacher at a certain stage in their career development which related to career advancement as promoted by further increasing responsibilities and challenges, such as lack of liquidity and a development triggered by the relative stagnation or even decline phenomenon. This phenomenon in the development of the teaching profession is in common, which have a negative impact on the health of their own career development of teachers and students as well as teaching. In particular, primary school teachers, who have many roles, lead to work pressure, less opportunity for promotion. For them, it is more likely to face career plateau. The study of primary school teachers’ Career Plateau, is of great significance to improve the management of primary education, and is good for professional development for teachers.In the same time, the study can benefit the healthy growth of students, and reinforce the foundation of the entire education system.This study is based on the results of the current study about career plateau. Through the definition of teacher professional plateau, career plateau questionnaire for primary school teachers is revised. By the use of questionnaire survey, we choose 258 teachers from four primary schools in FuZhou, meanwhile, five teachers from three primary schools are chosen to participate in the semi-structured interviews and then the result is analyzed. Through the investigation about the present situation of elementry teachers’ career plateau, the study describes the overall situation of elementry teachers’career plateau, and analyse the teachers who are in the content plateau, becoming the plateau, rank plateau or level plateau, facing the career plateau may have different link with theirs’ gender, age, seniority, education, marital status, title, position and other variables. Through the interviews of teachers, we analyse the problems of the career development process which the elementry teachers may face and then we have clear understanding of the cause about the career plateau, of it’s impact on teaching, students and teachers themselves.by the end of the study, the coping strategies about career plateau are presented.
