Research On University Teachers’ Competency Based On The Excellence Engineer Training Plan

The university and government education management departments have paid more and more attention to Excellence Engineer Training Plan, like how to select and assess teachers’ competency. In particular, lots of universities have done as much as exploration in students training mechanism with industry and enterprise about Excellence Engineer Training Plan. And the plan has got a positive development in some degree. According to the plan’s strategic goals and requirements on teaching, this research explores a competency model, which is suitable for the management system of university teachers, to achieve reasonable allocation of university teacher resources. What is more, the competency model advances Excellence Engineer Training Plan.In order to build an effective competency model, this paper takes coding method finding out competency characteristic elements in the BEI (behavior event interview) report information. Before making the research, coding method should make sure the coding researchers are consistent, while there are many factors that may destroy the agreement, such as, the text is difficult to recognize, or the coding researchers have subjective tendency in the process. Hence, the paper makes a pre-research to guarantee that the material and information are objective and effective, and then tests the reliability analysis of coding researchers. The result is reliability analysis is satisfied.Based on the pre-research, this paper selects BEI getting interview reports, then make coding evaluation by coding method. Finally, the structural model of university teacher competency based on Excellence Engineer Training Plan is given. In the model, competency characteristic elements are divided into two parts, one for the basic and the other for the excellent. For making further study on competency model, the paper classifies the original competency characteristic elements (called secondary characteristics) using clustering analysis. At last,there are six characteristic group(called primary characteristics) in the competency model including service ability, cognitive ability, management ability, personal ability, achievement consciousness.This paper makes validation studies by questionnaire survey to verify the university teachers’ competency model. Using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) implements the validation analysis. In this Item-subscale method research process, there are item discrimination analysis and reliability analysis and validity analysis confirming the competency characteristic factors. At last, the results show that build competency model introduced by this article is scientific and reasonable.
