Since the late 1990 s, some state-run universities have been attempting to absorb the folk capital to establish “secondary schools” which are later developed into independent colleges. Independent colleges are the novelty of higher education with Chinese characteristics. After developing in recent years, independent colleges have become an important part of Chinese higher education. However, some problems of independent colleges have appeared owing to their quick and short-term development. For instance, their education patterns are mainly the shadow of the mother colleges, their personnel training goals and approaches are just copies from the mother colleges, their training targets cannot satisfy the students’ needs, their overdependence on the mother colleges, and their lack of teaching quality evaluation criterion suitable for themselves. These problems have restrained their survival and development, and the growth of our nation’s higher education as well. Therefore, it is theoretically and practically meaningful for independent colleges to customize teaching quality evaluation system and reform talent training pattern in order to satisfy students’ requirements. This thesis presents teaching quality improvement advice by setting teaching quality evaluation system with ZCIB as an example for instance analysis. The part of literature review introduces the research background and meaning of independent colleges’ teaching quality evaluation system, its domestic and overseas research status, the key points and innovation points. The second part analyzes the features of students’ sources and their employment demands of the independent colleges. The third part designs teaching quality evaluation system based on the orientation of student demand with ZCIB as an example for instance analysis. The last part provides some constructive proposals for independent colleges’ teaching quality evaluation and talent training pattern.
