Applied undergraduate education is a new type of education,which is produced in the popularization of higher education. As the main carrier to realize talents cultivation goal,curriculum is the core of connotation construction. Based on the current social background that pilot professional construction of the applied type undergraduate in Shanghai, this study selects the curriculum of Automation in applied undergraduate university as object, takes the Automation in Shanghai Dianji university as an example.With the problem in the curriculum design,this study uses the method such as literature, comparative and case analysis, focuses on the theory,the curriculum goal, curriculum setting and the selection and organization of curriculum content. This study discusses the theory and method of curriculum design of the applied undergraduate universities, and provides ideas for reformation of curriculum.Applied undergraduate universities are in the exploration period, it has not formed a mature theoretical orientation in the curriculum design, which is the root of many problems in the curriculum design. As a new type of education, its curriculum theory should absorb the strengths of all kinds of curriculum theory. In addition, the diversity of the talents goals require the curriculum theory be integrated. The "multiple-integration" curriculum theory is a new theory,which has integrated and optimized the typical curriculum theory,for example the society-orient, discipline-orient, learner-orient, and so on.The orientation of curriculum objective is the first step of curriculum design, scientific and reasonable orientation has a very important guiding function to the following curriculum setting and curriculum content. The sources of curriculum objectives are diversification, including social needs, professional characteristics and international standards.Curriculum setting includes categories development and curriculum structure design. Firstly, according to the function, the curriculum is divided into general cultural curriculum and professional curriculum. Considering the students’learning style and the professional characteristics to determine the sequence of courses.For the hours allocation in the curriculum,it marks the curriculum plan of Purdue University Electrical Engineering Technology.For the content selection, based on the characteristics of students, the level of technical development, social needs, and the relationship between the different types of knowledge,this study discuss the content selection of professional courses. For the organization of the content, analyzing the main organization models,based on the corresponding relationship between the types of the talents and education, vocational ability development stage theory,this study demonstrates that "discipline+project" concept is the proper organization of the content to the applied undergraduate university.
