The foreign national music course is one of the students to understand diverse ethnic music culture media effectively, it is a important way to better study and inheritance of national music culture. In November 2006, the ministry of education issued the national musicology(teacher education) of common colleges and universities undergraduate compulsory curriculum guidelines will be foreign national music courses as ordinary institutions of higher learning musicology(teacher education) professional required course. The foreign national music course in colleges and universities music teaching system occupies the important position. Its teaching also more and more get the attention of music educators. However, at present our country the study of foreign national music and learning is still relatively weak, the normal universities have different "foreign national music" teaching situation. So the author choose two normal universities in Chongqing city, the current situation of foreign national music teaching research, the foreign national music course current teaching status, analysis of this new course in the curriculum, teaching content and teaching method still exists some problems, thus to improve the teaching quality of this course contributes an own strength.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part mainly on foreign music, foreign national music course and with the foreign national music related concepts to comb; The second part from the foreign national music course construction and teaching two aspects, the Chongqing and Changjiang university of foreign nationality in normal college music teaching investigation and analysis, to describe the two schools at present, the state of foreign national music teaching; The third part the author according to the results of the investigation and analysis and research of feedback information, expounds some problems existing in the current foreign national music course teaching; Finally on the basis of research results, contact the current education reality, from the curriculum target, curriculum setting, teaching three Angle discusses the foreign national music course construction need to perfect and improve, at the same time the foreign national music course teaching on changing the concept of students, enrich the teaching content, innovation teaching methods, perfecting teaching evaluation and so on, are looking forward to the better development of the course in the future.
