At present, the education of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (hereinafter referred as TCSL) shows a booming trend. As a part of Chinese Vocabulary, Idioms are essential elements and the means for learners to understand Chinese Culture deeply and improve the level of Chinese,whether in domestic or overseas’Chinese language teaching. However, due to the degree of teaching difficulty and other aspects of reasons, the Idioms teaching lags behind in TCSL. Picture is a common used and concise teaching tool. It is simple to operate and has high effective. Therefore, I ponder to introduce the painting teaching method into the class of idioms teaching, in order to help foreign learners to learn idioms intuitively, vividly and effectively.I had worked as a Chinese teacher in PUBLIC JIANHUA SCHOOL in Thailand for four months, and had brought the painting teaching method to idioms teaching class. On the basis of the detailed research and obtaining real and reliable data, hoping that through theoretical analysis and practical detection to illustrate the application of the painting teaching method in teaching Chinese idioms in Thailand middle school is feasible and effective.This article includes the following parts:The first part is an introduction. It mainly describes the origin, purpose, significance and research status, analyzes the object, content and methods of this study, and illustrates the unique of this topic.The second part firstly introduces the relevant knowledge of Chinese idioms, then analyzes the role of idioms teaching in Chinese language teaching in Thailand, finally indicates the current problems about idioms teaching in Thailand.The third part mainly analyzes the constraints that affect the development of idioms teaching in Thailand from five factors:idioms themselves, learners, teachers, teaching materials and schools.The fourth part firstly summarizes the painting teaching method and its theoretical basis. Secondly it analyzes the functions of painting teaching method and the feasibility of this method used in idioms teaching. Finally it describes the practice about the application of this method in teaching Chinese idioms in Thailand middle school.The fifth part bases on practical survey, to illustrate the application of the painting teaching method in teaching Chinese idioms in Thailand middle school is feasible and effective through the detailed research and reliable data.The last part is conclusion, summarizing the achievements of this research.
