With the rapid development of economy and rising international status of China, China and Thailand in terms of politics, economy, culture, education, etc. carried out even more extensive cooperation. Accompanied by the increasing importance of Chinese in Thailand, Chinese promotion has been strongly supported by both government and civil society, and has made great achievements in Thai Chinese teaching. But it should be noted, compared to the comprehensive expansion of Chinese teaching, Chinese characters teaching as an integral part of Chinese teaching in Thai, however, in a state of hysteresis." The Outline of the Graded Vocabulary for HSK" class A (hereinafter referred to as "Outline") as the basic characters for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, specific research and teaching application is not rich currently, especially ideographic characters teaching and research designed for Thai students even fewer. This paper selects the "Outline" Grade A ideographic characters for the study, and make a comprehensive analysis, on the basis of knowing Thai students’status and cognitive characteristics of learning Chinese characters according to questionnaires, then make ideographic characters classroom teaching design, implement and test results analysis, in order to put forward some related countermeasures and methods of ideographic characters, promoting Chinese characters teaching by teaching ideographic characters.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction of the research background, the purpose and significance, literature review, research contents and methods:From the "Outline", ideograph characters, methods of Teaching Chinese as foreign langugae,teaching Chinese characters to Thai, four aspects has carried out on literature review, we found that Chinese teaching in Thailand is fully operational currently, but the key, teaching of Chinese characters, is lagging behind;The second part makes a summary analysis from different angles for "Outline " class A ideographic characters:Select the ideographic characters in the "Outline " class A, do detailed quantity statistics, then divide, arrange and analysis from the type, structure, and radical. Fully reflects the "Outline" class A ideographic characters structure type, radical, ideographic by shape and ideographic by meanings, etc. More scientific and complete reveals the the characteristic of "Outline" class A ideographic characters, also provides strong support for scientific, rational, standardized of characters teaching and research application.The third part is the investigation and research about Thai students’ Chinese character learning situation:according to survey, the author examined the Thai students mainstream Chinese learning background, learning motivation and Chinese character cognition, commonly used and favorite learning methods. For Thai Chinese Character teaching, especially for Thai ideograph characters teaching’s proper design and implementation provides a reliable basis.The fourth part is the teaching and research of ideographic characters to Thai students, including the pre-analysis, teaching design and classroom teaching application, test results and analysis:Aimd at the characteristics of the students in Wutthiwitthaya School of Thailand, typical teaching design and implementation about Chinese teachers how to implement effective ideograph characters classroom teaching to Thai, has been carried out. Results show that, by learning ideograph characters, students can deepen their understanding of contact between Chinese grapheme and meaning, promote students’ experience about the Chinese character ideographic law, enhance Thai students the sense of Chinese characters.The fifth part provides some pedagogical implications and suggestions on Chinese characters with ideographic characters as a core. This chapter aimed at ideograph character teaching to Thai, proposed reasonable ideograph character teaching strategies, elaborated the methods and Strategies of the teaching Chinese characters from the teaching and learning two aspects, and provides a reference for Chinese teaching to teachers and students in Thailand.The sixth part is the summary and future work.
