As a unique traditional art form of China, Chinese character is as ancient as the culture of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, whose history could be traced back to thousands of years ago. Its charm lies on the extremely abundant ideological and cultural connotation. The teaching of Chinese character is essential and profound that it does not only improve students’ scientific and cultural qualities, but also benefits them both physically and mentally. Grade one is the key stage for primary school students to establish their Chinese character writing skills for the excellent ability and strong will to accept new things at young age. If they form good writing habit early, then they could benefit from it life-long.Based on literature research, questionnaire, experience summarization and interview, the researcher studies on the Chinese character writing skills among the first grade students of The First Affiliated Primary School to Yunnan University: first, from the perspectives of students, teachers, parents, school and society, the researcher analyzes the current teaching situation of writing skill and manages to find out the existing problems in training; then the researcher gives suggestions of writing skill training for teachers to guide students better, improving first grade students’ Chinese Character writing skills.The researcher divides the writingproblems among primary school’s first grade students’ into several parts and proposes following suggestions: first, for students, they need to understand the culture of the Chinese character and cultivate aesthetic judgment, sense the meaning of these characters and form correct writing attitude, develop writing interest by their own situation, write in the right gestures, understand the writing rules and write down the normative characters, guarantee enough training time, keep writing homework neat and clean; second, for teachers, they should emphasize the basic skill training for Chinese character and intensify student’s writing skill, complete evaluation protocols and give students efficient guidance, arrange reasonable time for steady training, break through unitary teaching pattern, change the old way of observing copy book and choose proper writing instruments; third, for parents, they are supposed to reinforce their own study of writing to guide their child, strictly fulfills teacher’s requirements, find out efficient writing method from child’s own characteristics; forth, for schools, they could add the examination of writing into assessment system, adjust writing course into more practical pattern, establish additional specialized instruction and cultivate teachers for writing skill; fifth, the education department and the whole society should emphasize the writing skill training for primary schools and give opinion and practical support without reservation. This research chooses students from Class one, Grade one as the object. Through the comparison of writing traces between the chosen class and the other classes, it is found that the Chinese character writing skill of the chosen class is significantly improved. This research is accepted by parents and approved by school.This research intends to provide the primary school writing skill teaching with some valuable and referable suggestions, and also hope to call for the social recognition for the importance of the writing education in the primary school, carrying forward the culture of Chinese character.
