| Urban traffic plays an important role in modern city development. As a vital part of city fundamental infrastructure, urban traffic system is also served as a social public sector that relate to the national economy and people’s livelihood strategy. As domestic economic developing, urban vehicle population has got apparent serious. Traffic problem is becoming more and more severe that not only restricts healthy developments of the city, but also has a strong negative impact on citizens’ social life. Nowadays, the level of urban traffic network construction and traffic development gradually becomes an important factor that weights the level of city development. Recently, the urbanization process pace keeps accelerating. When city scale expansion is promoted and city population keeps fast increasing, city environment and traffic capacity are confronted with huge pressure and challenge. Objectively, it demands urban traffic to be continually improved to meet the traffic demand. A deep study was given on how to improve the sustainable development of Chengdu urban traffic in this thesis, through studying related domestic and international research results and practice experiences, combining with real traffic conditions of Chengdu.Initially analysis in this thesis was given about current economic development level and traffic conditions of Chengdu, current population and economic conditions of Chengdu, and traffic volume of main streets and traffic structure conditions of Chengdu. Based on these analyses, make further suggestion of path choice for sustainable development of Chengdu urban traffic. Problems of Chengdu traffic were analyzed individually from3aspects about public traffic development, land utilization and demand management. Accordingly propose plans such as primary development of public traffic, coordination of traffic system and land utilization, implement strategy and suggestions of traffic demand management. Finally the function for government making related policies, and practical significance for improving economy, society, and harmonious development of environment of Chengdu were also discussed in the thesis. |
