With the gradual deepening of power system reform, the electric power industry’s monopoly status was broken. With the fuel prices rising step by step in the past few years,and a large number of funds being invested in environmental protection in order to achieve the the national requirements, the power generation companies are facing increasing cost pressure, and a progressively deteriorating business environment. In order to survive in fierce market competition and sustainable development, it is necessary to pay attention to human resource management for the power generation companies. Because of the central status and important role in human resources management, performance management is of great importance to accomplish the strategic objects of the electric power enterprises.Based on the domestic and international research results about performance, and the relevant performance management theories,this paper takes LXY Power Generation Company as the study object, according to the current situation of the business environments and the human resource management, and combining the performance management experience of the LXY Power Generation Company during the past few years.By using the methods of literature analysis,interviews and comparative analysis,the results show that there are many problems in the company’s performance management,such as awareness of bias, lack of a scientific evaluation system, lack of performance feedback and communication.In response to these problems, the author updates performance management concepts, combines the mature tool-KPI and advanced theory-BSC to application to management practice, taking a key position-Operations Department Manager- as an example to develop a scientific and effective performance evaluation index, and optimizes the performance feedback process by communication performance plan systems, performance feedback interviews systems and performance assessment appeals systems. By improving the company’s performance management, the author tries to build a set of complete performance management systems.The research of the system of performance management of LXY Power Generation Company will be beneficial to the enhancement of the system of performance management of many power generation companies theoretically and practically.
