With China’s rapid economic and social development, to alleviate the dual pressures of "the safeguard development and protection of resources", the state proposed a idea of "to promote the construction of remediation, to promote the protection of construction", land remediation has not only add a means of Arable land, but also offer a effective way to improve the quality of arable land productivity. Land remediation mainly based on agricultural land, but agricultural land remediation’s main purpose is to increase the quantity and improve the quality of arable land, so the research of potential and the issue of sustainable development of agricultural land remediation has important practical significance on arranging reasonably for agricultural land remediation projects, ensuring to complete the objectives and tasks of land remediation. In this paper, the preparation of land consolidation planning in Sichuan province (2011-2015) as an opportunity, combined with the Sichuan Provincial land use status and socio-economic development, on the basis of the study of the meaning and connotation of land remediation, proposed a potential method of the cultivated land consolidation, which based on the area of arable land slope index. In this method, "Sichuan Province in 2010 land use change data" and "China Investigation and Evaluation of Cultivated Land Quality Level (Sichuan Volume)" as the basis, combined with Sichuan topography and land use status, respectively (city, area) to conduct an independent calculation to the province’s 181 counties, summary level obtained 21 city (state) and the province’s total agricultural land remediation potential.Firstly, according to the counties (cities, districts) of agricultural land use status, area of arable land slope index and agricultural land remediation projects have been implemented to determine the scale of counties (cities, districts) of agricultural land available remediation construction scale, then according to the county (city, districts) of agricultural land existing average ridge coefficient agricultural land remediation projects have been implemented the new land area cultivated slope index rate and calculate the counties (cities, districts) of agricultural land remediation new land ratio (i.e. the relative potential),follo wed by the construction of agricultural land remediation can scale new land rates and Farmland Gradation results to calculate the counties (cities, districts) of agricultural land remediation potential quantity and quality of potential, and using ArcGIS and EXCEL on agricultural land remediation potential estimation results for visualization analysis and evaluation. The results show that the total Sichuan agricultural land remediation potential quantity and quality of potential were 46.1062 ten thousand hectares and 87.2517 million kilograms; the average relative potential was 7.97%.At last, this article discussed the issue of sustainable development of the Sichuan agricultural land remediation potential. On the basis of connotation of sustainable development of remediation potential of agricultural land, combined with national and relevant planning in Sichuan province, proposed the goals and tasks of Sichuan planning period (2011-2015) of agricultural land remediation, as well as municipalities (state) high standards basic farmland construction tasks and suggestions of additional land targets, identified remediation focus direction of five land remediation areas in Sichuan province, provided the basis and support for designing the relevant section of the land consolidation planning in Sichuan (2011-2015).
