The construction industry is the pillar industry in many countries. However it's also a high risk industry. The severe safety situation has caused a huge negative impact on both the industry development and social stability. With regard to the frequent occurrence of construction safety accidents, relevant researches show that the management and control of managers' unsafe behaviors is the essential factor to reduce the incidence of unsafe accidents. The current research on construction managers' unsafe behaviors is more focused on behavior and measures, which concentrates on the accumulating of the implementation of specific operations. However, the research on the interrelationship among the group of construction managers is quite few.Various forces in each group could have certain influence on the individuals, which provide new ideas to optimize and improve the unsafe behavior of construction managers. Therefore,by introducing the theory of group dynamics, this paper tries to explore the influence of group dynamics on construction managers' unsafe behavior. This paper adopted synthetic study methods including literature analysis, expert interviews, questionnaire survey and empirical analysis.Firstly, through literature analysis, this paper summarizes the theoretical researches of current unsafe behavior of construction managers, systemizes the unsafe behavior expressions of construction managers and analyses the effect and influencing factors of group dynamics on construction managers' unsafe behavior.Based on the theoretical model of construction managers' unsafe behavior on the condition of group dynamics, this paper puts forward corresponding hypotheses.Secondly, after extracting and analyzing managers' unsafe behavior via analyzing literatures, this research adopts expert interviews and expert scoring method, screening the unsafe behaviors which arise infrequently in behavior scale or have little effect.Meanwhile, the researcher complements the behavior scale and a behavior scale of managers' unsafe behavior is established. Then this paper discusses the group influence on unsafe behavior.Lastly, this paper implements an empirical study on the established theoretical model. This research distributes a questionnaire to different levels' managers, university professors majored in safety research, quality control and safety personnel and so on with 20 projects in construction in part of Chong Qing,Guang Zhou,Bei Jing,Ji Nan and other cities.A total of 350 questionnaires are distributed,287 of which are valid. The SEM is employed to process the collected data.By confirmatory factor analysis to the model hypothesis, this paper draws a conclusion: group norms, group driving force, and group cohesion can have different effects on the unsafe behavior of construction managers via safety behavior facilitation and safety behavior convergence. In contrast, the effect of group dissipative force is not obvious and under current research it can't be demonstrated that the group dissipative force can have influence on managers' unsafe behaviors through safety behavior facilitation. This paper summarizes the corresponding main measures of the construction managers' unsafe behaviors based on the results of confirmatory factor analysis. As a result, this research proposes that construct the whole system to improve managers' selfmanagement ability, strengthen the construction of criterion to intensify safety compliant behavior, improve the group norms and behavior driving force to control benefit-seeking behavior and some other proposals on optimizing and improving the unsafe behavior of construction manager.
