This translation report is based on the translation task of Confidential Information, Chapter 3 of Intellectual Property Law(4th edition). This book describes in detail the six main areas of intellectual property law: copyright, confidential information, unregistered and registered trademarks, patents and industrial designs, and it has been included in The Core Text Series for most of the UK's law schools. It is helpful for us to know about the history and status quo of Intellectual Property Law in UK by translating this book, meanwhile, translating this book provides reference for the theory research and development of intellectual property law in China. There is no translation of this book until now, so it is the first edition of Chinese. Through the translation report, the author finds out that it is the specific words, expressions and sentences that add difficulty to the translation. Therefore, this report aims at analyzing the methods used in translating the specific words, expressions and sentences in the legal text based on the characteristics of the legal text and its translation principle, which, hopefully, will provide a reference for the other translators who are engaged in English-Chinese translation of legal academic writings.
