This is a translation report. The original text is the Intellectual Property Law(4th edition) written by Dr. Jennifer Davis from Wolfson College, Cambridge. This book, with the clue of emergence, development and evolvement, describes in details the six main fields of intellectual property law: copyright, confidential information, unregistered and registered trademark, patent and industrial design and fully explains the essence, conditions for implementation, protection scope of intellectual property law. Furthermore, a number of leading cases from the UK courts as well as the courts of Justice of the European Community are referred to as the analytic targets and supporting materials in this book and even more complicated situations met with in the protection of intellectual property are also discussed.The author chooses Chapter One of Intellectual Property Law as the translation material which is a brief introduction to the intellectual property law. During the translation process, translating long sentences is the most difficult. The author analyzes the translation difficulties from the aspect of syntax and then, proposes appropriate translation strategies accordingly. The author hopes this report and strategies obtained in the course of the translation can be used for reference or guidance in the future translation practice. |
