Practice Report On Interpreting For Plant Training Of Baosteel India Employees

Under the background of economic globalization, China undergoes rapid development. More and more Chinese companies go abroad to seek opportunities and further development. Chinese Baosteel Group Corporation is one of them going global. In 2014, it set up Baosteel India Co. Pvt., Ltd(Baosteel India for short), which sent its employees to Chengdu Baosteel Automobile Steel Processing and Distributing Company(Chengdu Baosteel for short) for training. The author was sent by Chengdu Linguist Translation Company(CLTC for short) as an interpreter to Chengdu Baosteel for the plant training of Indian employees.The practice report was subject to plant training of Baosteel India employees.Plant training aimed at making Indian employees operate devices proficiently and contributing themselves to booming undertakings of Baosteel India. Consecutive interpreting(CI) and escort interpreting(EI) were two interpreting forms in the training which will be analyzed respectively in the report.CI was used in the conference rooms where there were opening and closing ceremonies of plant training, theoretical training, production planning training and summing up conference, etc. EI was available when engineers explained to the Indian trainees in the workshop about specific operations in slitting line, concerning loading coil, arranging separators and slitting shear and so on.Some interpreting difficulties stood in the way when the author conducted CI and EI. During the practice, these difficulties have been comprehensively analyzed and addressed with associated interpreting skills and methods based on some carefully chosen examples in the report. Ultimately, the practice has been a satisfactory success because all the trainees embraced operating skills and past the final exam. What's more, the only one trainee winning AA achievement was in the author's group. She acquired meaningful interpreting skills and facilitated her comprehensive ability from the training.
