A Project Report On Interpreting For Yangtse Evening Post Summit Forum Of Football Development In Local Schools

The reporter provided interpretation service at Yanglse Evening Post Summit Forum of Football Development in Local Schools for representatives from Cardiff City Football Club in Britain in May,2015. In two days'interpretation, the greatest difficulty that the reporter encountered is unfamiliarity with football language. The difficulty resulted in incomprehension of football jargons and professional knowledge, and failure to convey football culture and emotions. The reporter found that these problems were caused by inadequate preparation for football jargons and tactics, lacking prediction of listeners" knowledge structure, and lacking public speaking capability. In order to solve these problems, the reporter proposes four solutions under the guidance of Skopos theory and in accordance with her own situation after making a study of related academic achievements at home and abroad. The solutions include building a coipus for football jargons, accumulating professional football knowledge, adding background information and improving public speaking capability. The reporter optimizes the transcript by applying these solutions. The report points out that football interpreter should study and develop proficiency in football language to fulfill the task. The research results of this project report will enrich relevant studies about football interpreting.
