| With the rapid development of China’s economy and rising international status,people in many countries and regions starting to learn Chinese as a second language.Up to the 7th of December,2014,475 Confucius institutes and 851 Confucius classrooms have been established in 126 countries(regions).At the same time,more and more foreign students to study in China.Yet until now,Yemen hasn’t established any Confucius institute and Confucius classroom.Yemeni students who want to learn Chinese well have to come to China.Yemen is located in the southern Arabian peninsula and belongs to the Arab countries,so has different geographic environment and cultural characteristics with China.Therefore,Yemeni students studying in China will be confronted with many difficulties,because of the cultural differences.Based on qualitative study,using research methods of participant observation and in-depth interview,this thesis will focus on the cross-cultural adaptation of Yemeni overseas students in Shanxi university of China,summarize the difficulties Yemeni students confronted and analyze the influence factors of cross-cultural adaptation of them.The results implicate that:1.Factors that influence the cross-cultural adaptation of the Yemeni overseas students include life change,cultural distance,social support,expectations,knowledge and skills,intercultural experience,etc.2.The overall cross-cultural adaptation of the Yemeni overseas students is on a good level.However,they are difficult to adapt to the climate,food,school management and regulations of China.3.When the Yemeni overseas students come to a new city of China,they will feel more lonely and lost than in the last city they stayed. |
