The author of this paper has chosen 80 Belarussian students from three universities,who have been studying Chinese at the primary,intermediate and advance levels,as her study object,and analyzes the situation of their application of the Chinese adversative conjunctions.This study has undergone three main stages:firstly,on the bases of the three kinds of teaching books of CFL,the author points out its whole variety of the adversative conjunctions,that the students get familiar with during the language learing forn the primary to the advance level,counts out the number of their usage in all the teaching books,describes how precisely the Chinese adversative conjunctions have been introduced and how thoroughly they have been practiced through exercises;after that through 116 students' essays the author determines the actual situation of practical application of the Chinese adversative conjunctions by the Belarussian students,counts up 6 kinds of the conjunctions used by the students,with 125 sentences carrying the adversative conjunctions of CFL the author reveals correct and incorrect cases of conjunction usage and adds explationtions on the reason of the mistakes;during the final stage with the help of specially prepared test the author checks all the rusults and assumptions got form the essays,namely:first of all,besides the 6 kinds of the hingly used adversative cinjunctions,whether there is any understanding of the rest conjunctions in the minds of the Bealrussian students,secondly,whether the Belarussian students have formed strong correspondence relations between Belarussian and Chinese adversative conjunctions;thirdly,whether the Belarussian students can diversely use the conjunctions in a small linked text,and,fourthly,under what conditions the approach of preliminary development of the sense of a language))can be the most effective.Having conducted the research,the author finds that within the system of the Chinese adversative conjunctions,in comparison with an open type of written exercises("Fill in the blanks"),Belarussian students show stronger ability to use adversative conjunctions in a closed type of written exercises("Chose the correct answer"),but the variety of the Chinese adversative conjunctions used by the students in a closed type of exercises makes only 6 types;all the cases of incorrect use of the Chinese adversative conjunctions demonstrates that the Belarussian students even at the advanced level of the Chinese language learning haven't established correct correspondence relations between Belarussian and Chinese adversative conjunctions,which results in deneralisation of a concrete meaning of every single Chinese adversative conjunction into a general meaning of contrast,which is a distinctive feature of such conjunctions as "danshi" or "keshi".The made research and carried out observations make it clear,the sooner the explanation of meaning and usage of a new Chinese adversative conjunction is given after its first mentioning or introduction in a teaching book,the more effective the approach of preliminary development of the sense of a language?will be,since it will help the students to make the right understanding of the conjunction and a quick grasp of it at the early stage.On the bese of the results,the author states a few suggestions on how to reduce the cases of wrong usage of the Chinese adversatice conjunctions and how to increase their diversity in speech and in writing during the all three stages of language learing.
