With the acceleration of economic globalization, environmental pollution and ecological deterioration has become a global pressing issue, covering the fields of international economy, politics and diplomacy, and so on.Therefore,it’s imperative to attach importance to studies on the impacts of globalization on ecological environment.Since there are big differences in language features between Chinese and English and in expression habits between Chinese and Westerners, when translating,we should reinvent sentence structure. This practice report, based on the author’s translation of Globalization and the Environment, mainly discusses three problems, namely differences in passive structures, inconsistency between long sentence structures and inconsistency between complex sentence structures.During translation, the author analyzes different kinds of reconstruction through the analyses of specific cases under the guidance of skopos theory. To resolve the problem of differences in passive structure, the author uses the method of transforming passive structures into active structures and comprehensive reconstruction methods;to resolve the problem of inconsistency between long sentence structures, the author uses the methods of splitting translation and hysteron-proteron;to resolve the problem of inconsistency between complex sentence structures, the author uses the methods of combination, embedding and repetition. The author also summarizes the gains and limits of this translation practice and hopes that other translators who will translate texts about economy and environment in the future can draw lessons from this practice report.
