2014 Communique on Land and Resources of China is an authoritative channel for foreigners to get to know China since it makes a comprehensive introduction to China's current situation of land resources, the use of land resources and marine resources, the future development plans, covering every aspect of our country's land resource. In this case,a systematic and theoretical study on it has a great practical significance.Through research and practice, polysystem theorists have come up with a series of translation norms for analyzing constraint factors for translation activity or evaluating translation products. The most famous representative of this school is Andrew Chesterman, who proposed the expectancy norms and professional norms based on Gideon Toury's translation norm theory. This report chooses the CE translation of 2014 Communique on Land and Resources of China as the objects for analysis, aiming at discussing the applicability of Chesterman's translation norms in translation for international communication.Considering the differences between Chinese and western culture and language, translators should apply both literal translation and liberal translation so as to properly transmit the meaning of the source text.At last, the report draws a conclusion so as to provide reference for future translation.
