This practice report is based on the E-C translation of Our National Parks,a magazine published in America. In this report, the translator aims to discuss the problems met in the translation process and how to deal with them based on the Skopos theory. Our National Parks is a tourism text which contains many long and complex sentences and involves plenty of culture-loaded information and culture characteristics.Through reading and translating the magazine, the translator learns a lot about American culture, history and landscapes. The absence of the Chinese version of Our National Parks is a pity for the Chinese, since it is so important for Chinese to know better about the American culture in the modern society. In order to finish the translation task properly and make the translated version wellaccepted by the target readers, the translator takes the Skopos theory put forward by Hans J.Vermeer as guidelines in the translation practice and analyzes the translation problems and solving strategies accordingly in the report. Some specific translation methods are also discussed in some detail in this report, such as amplification, explanatory translation, literal translation, reduction, division, recombination and inversion. The translator hopes this report can be of help for other translation learners and lovers who are willing to translate similar materials.
