On the background of university expansion and popularization,the problem on graduate unemployment comes out.According to “Chinese Education Online”,there are about 7.65 million graduates in 2016,which is 3.61 times as that in 2003(the first expanded graduates).Forced by realistic pressure,university students pay attention to English learning to improve their competitiveness,so that they can match the requirements of enterprises.Therefore,since Chinese reform and opening up,a nationwide enthusiasm for English learning becomes popular.Recently,some people from all walks of life have begun to question the value of English learning,and rumors that “English will be canceled in the examination for university” and “English scores will be reduced” spread.It can be deduced that people begin to think English learning again.In recent years,many scholars have studied difficult employment from the aspect of overeducation.Inspired by that,I would like to explore current situation of English learning from the angle of economics.Based on literature relating to over-education and English learning,I adopt methods such as literature research,questionnaire research and economic modal.Firstly,the article measures English over-education rate by subjective evaluation,and then analyses factors affecting English over-education by logistic ordinal modal.Lastly,income effect brought by English overeducation is explored by this paper on the reference of ORU modal.The study indicates that about 39.78% English learners are over-educated,about 37.47% English learners are proper-educated,and about 22.75% English learners are under-educated.What's more,female English over-educated rate is higher than male's,and the same rate of knowledge workers with more than 10 years is higher than those with less than 10 years.The affected factors include age,English level,family condition,salary,technical title,and match degree between major and work.As a whole,earning rate of English over-education is 29% lower than that of English proper-education,and the more years for English learning,the higher earning rate will be rewarded.
